“Anyone who ever heard Marmalade play at clubs like the Marquee would know that there is a lot more to Marmalade than the hits Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da and Reflections of My Life’. Here we find 45 tracks which typify what ‘The Marms’ were all about. There are some great rock tracks like Graham’s ‘Empty Bottles’ and ‘Can You Help Me (very much influenced by the style of Crosby, Stills & Nash / Santana, etc who were everyone’s heroes in the late ‘60’s).
There are also some lovely soft-rock titles that really show off the vocal harmonies, and a great version of Dylan’s ‘I Shall be Released’. Fine Cuts is the Best Of Marmalade!“ Junior Campbell – 2011
“We were influenced by many types of music and through all of our recordings runs the thread of quality musicianship. We had some fun times as a group and some of it I still remember. I hope you enjoy “Fine Cuts” as much as I did.” Dean Ford. - Los Angeles. 2011
"This superb 45-track collection offers a much more honest portrait of one of the UK’s most accomplished pop groups...A nigh-on essential compilation" - **** Terry Staunton - Record Collector (issue Nov 2011)
Having started out life as Dean Ford And The Gaylords - no sniggering at the back please - Scotland’s Marmalade were a decent little pop band with no pretensions to be anything more. Fine Cuts: The Best Of Marmalade contains everything necessary from their late ’60s/early-’70s heyday, meaning welcome re-runs for Cousin Norman, Radancer and rather fine Reflections Of My Life especially. *** Peter Kane - Q Magazine (issue Nov 2011)
